Ingredients
1 (14 to 16 ounce) ball pizza dough
½ pound thick-cut bacon chopped
1 medium apple
1 heaping cup mozzarella
1 Tbsp. fresh thyme leaves
Sugarman Pure Organic Maple Syrup
2 cups fresh spinach
1 onion caramelized
2 Tbsp. olive oil
4 cloves garlic minces
¼ tsp. dried oregano
¼ tsp. ground black pepper
1/4 tsp. salt
2-3 Tbsp. flour
1 ½ cups half and half milk
Garlic Sauce Directions
In a skillet on medium-high heat, heat the olive oil. In the skillet add the garlic and heat for around 3 minutes or until fragrant. Add in the flour (start off with 2 Tbsp. add more later to thicken the consistency), oregano, pepper, and salt. Wisk the contents of the skillet well and then add the half and half, while whisking constantly. Cook and stir the contents until bubbly and until the mixture has thickened. If you wish to thicken the mixture even more, you can add in the extra Tbsp. four and some more half and half until you have reached your desired consistency.
Caramelized Onions (ingredients besides final product are not listed in the ingredients section)
Add oil and butter to a medium-large skillet and set over high heat. Once the butter is melted, add 1 diced onion and thyme, salt, and pepper to taste. Cook until the onion starts to turn brown and continue to stir frequently. After 5 minutes, turn the heat to low and cover the skillet for 15 minutes. If the onion starts to stick to the pan, you can always add a bit of water.
Pizza Directions
First, preheat the oven to 500 degrees F. In a skillet cook the bacon over medium heat and cook unit it begins to brown at the edges (the bacon should not be crispy since it will go in the oven later). Strech or roll out your dough to a 12–14-inch circle, then transfer it to a baking sheet. Brush the dough with oil, then cover the dough in the garlic sauce you made, making sure to leave a rim of dough around to form the crust. Add spinach, mozzarella, apple slices, caramelized onions and bacon. Lastly, drizzle heavily with Sugarman’s Pure Organic Maple Syrup. Transfer the pizza to the oven and bake until the crust is golden (this should be about 8-10 minutes). Remove pizza from the oven garnish with fresh thyme and drizzle with Sugarman’s Pure Organic Maple Syrup!
