Not going to the game? You can still enjoy these football-friendly cocktails from the comfort of your couch while you root for your favorite team. So throw on your game-day gear, grab a group of fellow football fanatics and get your drink on with these easy, crowd-pleasing drinks.

Early Morning Kickoff Cocktails

Just because your tailgate is starting before lunch, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a cocktail. Try one of these cocktails that are on the lighter!

Cold Brew Bourbon Cocktail

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Combine coffee, bourbon, triple sec, and maple syrup with ice in a shaker.
  2. Shake to mix.
  3. Strain into a rocks glass over ice, and top with cream.
  4. Add orange peel for garnish.

Champagne Maple Cocktail

  1. Pour maple syrup and bitters in a champagne glass and top with champagne.
  2. Twist orange peel over glass and drape peel on rim.

Sparking Maple Orange Vodka Spritzer

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. In a glass, pour in vodka, lime juice, and maple syrup.
  2. Top with orange juice and finish with carbonated water and ice. Stir to combine.
  3. Garnish with a lime wedge and rosemary spring. Serve immediately.

Maple Bourbon Smash

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 oz Sugarman of Vermont Maple Syrup
  • 1/2 oz fresh orange juice
  • 1/4 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 4 dashes of Angostura bitters
  • 1/2 orange wheel
  • 2 ounces bourbon
  • ice
  • 1 1/2 oz chilled seltzer

Instructions:

  1. In a rocks glass, combine the maple syrup with the orange juice, lemon juice, and bitters.
  2. Add the orange wheel and lightly muddle.
  3. Add the bourbon and stir well.
  4. Fill the glass with ice and top with the chilled seltzer.

Cinnamon Maple Whiskey Sour

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker or mason jar about two-thirds full with ice. Pour in the bourbon, lemon juice, maple syrup, and a pinch of ground cinnamon. Securely fasten the lid and shake well.
  2. Pour fresh ice into your cocktail glass and strain the cold whiskey sour mixture into the glass.

Maple Honeycrisp Margaritas

Drink Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz gold tequila
  • 1 oz Grand Marnier liqueur
  • 2 oz Honeycrisp syrup
  • 1 oz apple cider
  • 1 oz maple simple syrup
  • 1 Honeycrisp apple thinly sliced

Honey Crisp Syrup Ingredients:

  • 2 Honeycrisp apples peeled and diced
  • 1/4 cup water
  • sugar

Instructions:

To Make Honeycrisp Syrup:

  1. Place the apples and water in a saucepan and heat over medium heat. Cook until the mixture is simmering and the apple is tender and begins to break down. Transfer the mixture to a blender or food processor and puree until smooth and blended. Strain over a fine-mesh sieve into a measuring cup.
  2. The amount of Honeycrisp juice you have is how much sugar you need. If you have 1/2 cup, use 1/2 cup sugar. Equal parts. Place both the Honeycrisp juice and the sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk constantly until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is simmering. Remove from the heat and let cool completely. Store in a sealed container in the fridge.
  3. Cinnamon Sugar Rim: Coat the rim of each glass in maple syrup using a spoon or parchment paper. On a plate, stir together the sugar, cardamom, and cinnamon. Dip each glass in the sugar to coat.
  4. Fill a cocktail shaker with the tequila, Grand Marnier, apple cider, simple syrup, and ice and shake for 30 to 60 seconds until combined. Fill a glass with crushed ice and Honeycrisp slices and pour the margarita over top.

Keep You Warm Cocktails

Maple Bourbon Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Combine milk and chocolate in a saucepan and whisk over low heat until chocolate melts.
  2. Bring chocolate mixture to a low simmer (do not boil). Add maple syrup and a pinch of salt and stir well.
  3. Remove from heat and add in bourbon and Cointreau.
  4. Pour into mugs and garnish with whipped topping and chocolate shavings.

Maple Ginger Hot Toddy

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices ginger
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 star anise pods
  • 1 teabag of your choice
  • 1 1/2 – 2 oz scotch, whiskey, or bourbon
  • 1/2 oz Sugarman of Vermont Maple Syrup
  • squeeze lemon

Instructions:

  1. Muddle ginger in a glass.
  2. Add the cinnamon stick, star anise pods, and one teabag.
  3. Add Scotch & maple syrup.
  4. Pour hot water over top and let steep for 3 – 4 minutes.
  5. Add a squeeze of lemon and stir.

Big-Batch Cocktails

Want to serve up some tasty cocktails at your tailgate, but doesn’t want to have to bring along the whole bar? Check out these big-batch cocktails that you can prepare ahead of time at home. Throw them in the cooler with a bag of ice and some glasses, and you are good to go!

Hot Bourbon Cider Cocktail

Serves 16

Ingredients:

  • 1 gallon apple cider
  • 1/2 cup Sugarman of Vermont Maple Syrup
  • 4 cinnamon sticks, plus more for garnish
  • 1 tbsp whole allspice berries
  • 4 whole star anise pods
  • 2 cups bourbon
  • 1 cup ginger liqueur

Instructions:

  1. Stir cider and maple syrup together in a large heavy pot. Add cinnamon, allspice, and star anise.
  2. Cover and bring to a simmer over medium-low heat, then reduce the heat to low and continue to gently simmer for 30 minutes. *Alternatively, combine ingredients in a 6- to 8-quart slow cooker; cook on low for 2 hours.
  3. Stir in bourbon and ginger liqueur.
  4. Ladle the cocktail into heatproof glasses to serve. Garnish with additional cinnamon sticks, if desired.

Maple Bourbon Lemonade

Serves 10

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice, from about 8 lemons
  • 1/2 cup Sugarman of Vermont Maple Syrup
  • 1 1/4 cups American bourbon or whiskey
  • 1 liter club soda or seltzer
  • ice

Instructions:

  1. Roll your lemons on the counter while lightly squeezing or pushing down on them. It will help to release the juices. Set a small colander or sieve over a bowl to catch lemon pits. Cut the lemons in half horizontally and squeeze out as much of the juice as possible.
  2. Place the maple syrup, bourbon, and lemon juice in a large pitcher. Use a whisk to mix well. This may take a while, as the maple syrup is quite thick.
  3. Just before serving, add the liter of chilled club soda. Stir well once again.
  4. Pour the lemonade into cocktail glasses filled with ice.
